Position Overview
We are seeking a passionate Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will design, develop, and optimize mechanical systems for our autonomous underwater robots, ensuring robust performance in demanding marine conditions. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a startup environment, collaborating with renowned experts to push the boundaries of underwater robotics.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical systems and components for autonomous underwater robots.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineers to integrate hardware and ensure seamless operation in harsh marine environments.
- Conduct simulations, prototyping, and rigorous testing to validate design performance under real-world conditions.
- Analyze field data and iterate on designs to continuously improve reliability, efficiency, and safety.
- Support system integration and troubleshooting during field tests and deployments.
Qualifications
- BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Current students with the right skills are welcome!
Required Skills/Experience:
- Experience in structure design and analysis, and designing mechanical systems for robotics or similar applications.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Onshape) and familiarity with simulation tools.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, startup environment.
Desired Skills/Experience:
- Prior experience with marine robotics or marine grade materials.
- Understanding of materials and manufacturing processes suitable for underwater applications.
- Hands-on 3D printing, prototyping and testing experience.
- Familiarity with sensor integration and environmental considerations for underwater operations.
- U.S. citizen or permanent resident (this requirement cannot be waived)
- Part-time positions require a commitment of approximately 20 hours per week
- Occasional travel for field testing is expected
